These stunning hardcover editions feature gorgeous new cover art and frontispieces by Joe Jusko; forewords by pulp art expert Doug Ellis (The Art of the Pulps: An Illustrated History, The Adventure House Guide to the Pulps) and author Geary Gravel (John Carter of Mars: Gods of the Forgotten, Philip K. Dick Award finalist The Alchemists); afterwords by noted ERB scholar Henry G. Franke III; and a bounty of rare and previously unpublished archival materials.
In Thuvia, Maid of Mars,
Carthoris, son of John Carter and Dejah Thoris, is framed as the chief
suspect in the kidnapping of Thuvia, Princess of Ptarth. Yet only
Carthoris can rescue the woman who has spurned his love from the
specters that have been haunting an ancient Barsoomian city since time
immemorial.
And in The Chessmen of Mars,
a furious tempest sweeps the lone flier of Tara, John Carter and Dejah
Thoris’ headstrong daughter, from the safety of Helium halfway across
the face of Barsoom. There Tara must contend with the grotesque bodiless
heads known as kaldanes, and both she and the warrior who seeks her
hand must face death in the arena in a bloodthirsty game of living
chess.
Volumes 4 and 5 of the Barsoom Saga are expected to ship Spring 2025.
